Redistribution of Wealth Disguised as Health Care Reform in Colorado.

Health Care Reform … ain’t it grand!
That grand is about what it is going to cost everyone per month for coverage starting next year when HB 1021 gets passed. Just another mandate, just another premium increase. No big deal, right? I thought health insurance reform was to lower costs. This bill won’t, this bill will increase every one’s rates.
Colorado already has 51 state mandates! As I discussed in my post on cost factors in health insurance these mandates increase premiums and here we go again. I can hear the complaints now from the unintended consequences.
So let’s admit it … this is not about health care reform. This is about redistribution …
When a 25 year old male buys a health insurance policy next year, he will pay a premium that includes coverage for someone else’smaternity care. When a 60 year old woman who has had a hysterectomy buys a policy next year, she will be paying for someone else’s maternity care. Plain and simple, when my policy is renewed next year my premiums will go up an additional percent or two in order to pay for someone else’s maternity care.
