All you NEVER wanted to know

Colorado Health Insurance Future Revealed

Colorado’s health insurance future is revealed … and it ain’t pretty.

Now I’m no Nostradomus … I don’t even know how to spell Nostradamus, but those who live in California and have an HMO managing their health care are living our future.

If we want to avoid their health insurance fate, we had better stand up, speak out and and vote …  for conservatives who won’t let this happen to us here in Colorado.  However, anybody who delights in having a nanny to wipe your bum after attaining the age of 3 will enjoy these new regulations.

California has had to mandate a time period for doctors offices to return phone calls … for the love of all that is good and wholesome! Is there anything they won’t regulate?  Doctors have every right to provide government level customer service.  We as consumers, have every right to go elsewhere.  That’s the way capitalism works.

Even better is that the law that allowed the California Department of Managed Health Care to institute rules for phone etiquette is 7 years old and they just got around to handing out the regulations last month … I know, delicious irony.

There are more amazing nuggets of health insurance bastardization in this story that uncover what happens when you let someone else manage your health care.

People in San Diego wait an average of 24 days for a routine physical with a family practitioner, according to the survey by Merritt Hawkins & Associates, a national physician recruiting firm.

In Los Angeles, patients wait 59 days on average, the study found. Researchers said Los Angeles’ high cost of living, its vast poor population and low reimbursement rates from Medi-Cal drive family doctors away from the city or into specialties that offer higher pay.

Now if you buy your own insurance, and are smart enough to purchase a solution with a PPO instead of an HMO, and a doctor tells you that you have to wait 24 days for a visit you can pick another doctor.  In an HMO you can’t.

Now imagine … the federal government in control of managing your health care.  I know, I know.  It’s hard to believe that anything could be worse than California government, but if you think about it, right now the only difference between the California budget process and the federal budget process is the federal government ability to print money.

I’ll say it again.  Stand up, speak out … and vote.  Vote for conservatives who won’t let this happen.

Michael Bennet asked Harry Reid to push for a public option.  You know, the one where a nanny wipes your bum.  He must be voted out and replaced with a conservative.
