Medicare Actuary says cuts will put hospitals in the red

Posted By Mark on April 25, 2010

Well, a month or so after the democRATS passed the health care reform bill on their own (remember the only thing bipartisan about this bill was the vote against it) we find out in a report by the Medicare’s Office of the Actuary that:

In particular, concerns about Medicare could become a major political liability in the midterm elections. The report projected that Medicare cuts could drive about 15 percent of hospitals and other institutional providers into the red, “possibly jeopardizing access” to care for seniors.

Believe it or not this is being reported by the AP.  It must be killing them, but don’t expect this to be discussed in the main stream media, they have moved on.  Immigration, cap and trade … supreme court justice.  No more time for a bill that will ruin our health care system within 10 years.

Think about the seniors … they are going to get walloped:

In addition to flagging provider cuts as potentially unsustainable, the report projected that reductions in payments to private Medicare Advantage plans would trigger an exodus from the popular alternative. Enrollment would plummet by about 50 percent. Seniors leaving the private plans would still have health insurance under traditional Medicare, but many might face higher out-of-pocket costs.

To access to health care will be diminished (folks may have insurance, but there will be less doctors and facilities) and costs will go up … two out of three strikes.

I still say it should be called obama-don’t-care.

HCR wont stop premium increases

Posted By Mark on April 14, 2010

I’ve said it over and over again … health care reform is not about reducing the cost of insurance and improving access.

The LA Times agrees:

Public outrage over double-digit rate hikes for health insurance may have helped push President Obama’s health care overhaul across the finish line, but the new law does not give regulators the power to block similar increases in the future.

What?!?!  Rates are still gonna go up?  What was all the fuss about and what the hell did they do with 2000+ pages of legislation?

obama-don’t-care!

obama-don’t-care will bring us less care not more

Posted By Mark on April 13, 2010

A new article from the Wall Street Journal tells us:

Experts warn there won’t be enough doctors to treat the millions of people newly insured under the law. At current graduation and training rates, the nation could face a shortage of as many as 150,000 doctors in the next 15 years, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges.

You know what that means?  It means that you won’t be able to see your doctor … unless you are willing to wait, and wait, and wait.  Rember this post?

Colorado Health Insurance Future Revealed

Unfortunately, it appears I was correct. Don’t worry though, we can fix this fast by educated more doctors right?  Uh … not so much says the Wall Street Journal:

“It will probably take 10 years to even make a dent into the number of doctors that we need out there,” said Atul Grover, the AAMC’s chief advocacy officer.

Well, how about bringing in more doctors from abroad?  Quick fix, right?

While doctors trained in other countries could theoretically help the primary-care shortage, they hit the same bottleneck with resident slots, because they must still complete a U.S. residency in order to get a license to practice medicine independently in the U.S.

Thanks a lot obama, Pelosi and Reid.

obama’s “Health Care” Army

Posted By Mark on April 13, 2010

Do you remember during the campaign when obama said this?

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

Well guess what … he got it! This is health care? I guess I know now why they care him/her the Surgeon General.

Considering that it is illegal for federal government to use federal troops for law enforcement in the United States, this portion of the bill may be also be illegal.

We all know that the folks who voted for this aren’t much worried about the constitution:

Repeal obama-don’t-care

Posted By Mark on April 9, 2010

Republicans are split on whether or not they should try to repeal what I call obama-don’t-care.

The American people, however, are not split.

Healthy margins in all polls suggest that there is broad support to repeal this horrible legislation.

Why are these stupid politicians so wishy washy?  They drive me friggin bananas (not a long trip these days).  Don’t get me wrong, I realize there are strong politicians out there who are working hard to repeal this and lead others in that direction, but we have an old guard of folks in office that aren’t as conservative as we need them to be.

These folks need to be identified, lobbied to change their tune and replaced if they don’t.

Jim DeMint is doing just that.  He is looking to change the face of the Republicans in the Senate.  By backing folks like Marco Rubio in the Florida senate race he wants like minded conservatives.  He is not willing to settle for obama hugging Charlie Crist and neither should we.

Transparency Paradigm Shift

Posted By Mark on April 7, 2010

Here’s our government in Colorado working to shift the paradigm on transparency.

Transparency is a term that is bandied about constantly these days.  It came from folks wanting the government process to be less secretive about their machinations.  That’s a noble goal.

The link above however shows our government here in CO working to flip transparency 180 degrees.  They, as a state government will have total transparency on every single health transaction in the state … period.  If you go to the doctor for a hang nail, they will find out.  If you go to the doctor for an STD, they will know.  If you are pregnant, they will know.

Think about why they need to know.  If you follow their logic, which admittedly they are transparent about, its so they can control you.  They cannot have a single payer health care system without the information required to plan for it and this is how they get that information.

Click on this link find your legislator and their contact information.  Tell them to fight against this.

Sarah Palin Targets Betsy Markey and John Salazar of Colorado

Posted By Mark on April 3, 2010

Quick note here … Sarah Palin targets Markey and Salazar, both here in Colorado, for their health care reform votes.  Yes, I said targets, but not with a gun you ninnies.

Side Effects from obamaCare

Posted By Mark on April 1, 2010

Despite my advocacy of the status quo in health insurance even I understand that there are things that need to change in health care or medical insurance.  However, there are many many things that do not need to be changed and work extremely well.

Two of those things are Health Savings Accounts (HSA’s) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA’s).

Health Savings Accounts if your not familiar are high deductible health plans used in conjunction with an actual savings account where you deposit money in a taxed deferred way in order to pay for your medical expenses.  If you do use this money it is tax free, if you don’t it collects tax deferred interest and rolls over to the next year for use.

Flexible Spending Accounts are accounts held by your employer which are taken out of your pay check pre-tax and held to pay for medical expenses.

Both are wildly popular and widely used.  I blogged recently about how succesful the state of Indiana and Mitch Daniels have been with theirs.

Never fear, the government is hear to help!  Anything useful or allowing for personal control and responsibility must be stopped!

The Heritage Foundation has an article describing the castration of these useful medical insurance programs and at least for the HSA, potential death sentence.

That is not all.  Despite our dear leader’s contention that your premiums will decrease by $2,500 per year, the contrary is likely

So … we have two plans that are popular and helpful … gutted by obamacare and a promise that premiums will raise which is flatly wrong and the exact opposite will happen.

How’s that hope and change workin’ for ya?

Baucus and Dean: Health Care Reform is Redistribution of Wealth

Posted By Mark on March 31, 2010

A while back I wrote this piece about redistribution of wealth disguised as health care reform.  Well, turns out I was right!!

And right again:

First thing first … What the hell is wrong with Baucus?  He is blotto, twisted!

Second it seems the lefties are very comfortable these days speaking openly about their love for redistribution of wealth.  It kinda scares me … if they can admit it openly and get away with it this country is in big trouble.

Hidden Costs of obama and the DemocRATs Health Care Bills

Posted By Mark on March 28, 2010

Too many stories and so little time.  Let us begin with the “hidden” costs of obamacare.

$14,000,000,000

That’s just this year and means more job loss and economic upheaval.

The democRATS, and one of their leaders (a true RAT in visage and deed), Henry Waxman are now threatening the companies who will be losing millions due democRAT policy.  The RATS led by Waxman are not concerned about those who may lose their jobs, but that they may lose their jobs due to the truth being unearthed.

These costs were not in the CBO report but after being released and finally reported by some in the media the RATS led by Waxman are being intimidated through demands for internal company documents.

Waxman is a pompous ass and he and his RAT face:

Need to leave these companies alone.  That is the best thing our congress could do right now … go on an 8 month vacation until the elections in November.
